frequently asked questions
What is color analysis, and why should I use it for my headshots?
Color analysis is an integral tool in casting for both actors and models. You likely already have an intuitive eye for your color season, whether gold makes your skin glow, and silver makes you appear pale, or vice versa. You may know that you’re warm or cool toned, or what colors you like best, but color season analysis helps you to find your best colors to highlight your most beautiful features on a deeper level.
Can I ask you to make a part of me smaller, or is that weird and bad?
Yes, you can ask for a part of you to be transformed, but it is not recommended for actors or models. The way you look in your headshots is the way you should appear to casting, and altering your features in a way that misrepresents you is highly detrimental to your career.
Do I need to give you credit for retouching?
No, you do not need to give credit to a service you pay for.
Do you provide physical copies of headshots?
I do not provide physical copies of headshots.
What’s this about a discount if I get my headshots done by Brian McConkey?
Retouches for Brian McConkey’s clients receive a discount, due to his skill with lighting and composition. Working with a talented photographer makes retouching easier and more intuitive.
Will you retouch a headshot taken by a non-professional?
I strongly dislike doing this, but I do it for friends or people in a bind. Sometimes, a photo is so bad that I just don’t want to. I highly recommend working with a photographer who has a trusted portfolio.
Will you retouch my wedding portraits?
Usually, I will not. I still work as an actor and model, and weddings are a huge undertaking. If you have a wedding portrait print for less than three images, please contact me via the services page.
